Tesla Model 3 and maintenance — stop it already
I’m amazed at the number of misconceptions about the Tesla Model 3.
- It is all about speed — um, nope. I went for the base model because it is already crazy fast and I don’t want speeding tickets
- It is expensive. Nope, do the math. Nevermind all the other benefits, this car is improving with age. I didn’t buy the X or the Roadster. This argument is getting silly and in 2 years will be ridiculous
- A number of strangers have stated ‘just wait until you have problems with it…’. Ironically, every one of them have a picture of a gas-guzzling pickup truck as their Facebook photo … so they couldn’t possibly have other motivations… right?
That’s the one I take MOST issue with. Of course one day I’ll have an issue. Murphy’s Law wouldn’t be a thing if it didn’t… but the # of issues is already seriously mitigated with this car. Tonight, I had to replace the battery on our Ford Explorer (its been 3+ years since we bought it … and we also haven’t driven it in 3 weeks because … well, it isn’t Shawniqua II).
I thought I’d take a picture tonight under the hood of the Ford and all the various parts that could cause me grief (and frankly half of them have to date). And then compare it to the Model 3 and it’s windshield wiper fluid lid. (hint: look for the orange circles). Just stop it already… and don’t get me started on the regenerative brakes, particularly after the new ‘hold’ update (single pedal driving … I literally find myself confused driving a regular car now).
Again … I’m driving an iPhone. Remember when you first discovered your SmartPhone? Ya, this is the same thing.
And one more thing… maybe we won’t need windshield wiper fluid either … in the not too distant future … https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/tesla-is-going-to-use-lasers-as-windshield-wipers
